Who are we?
The Scottish Community Safety Network (The SCSN) are looking for volunteers to support our administration or project based work.
SCSN is a registered Scottish Charity (SC357649) and Company Limited by Guarantee in Scotland (SC040464). We are primarily a membership organisation that brings together representatives from across the community safety sector to achieve a shared vision.
We are the strategic voice for community safety in Scotland and through working collaboratively with our members and partner agencies aim to:
- Provide leadership and be a centre of excellence for the community safety sector
- Champion community safety and influence the shaping and development of national policy and local delivery
- Be a collaborative learning, developing and sustainable network.

The SCSN continues to go from strength to strength and is a financially stable and viable organisation.
Volunteering opportunity
We are interested in appointing new volunteers to support our delivery of support to Community Safety Partnerships in Scotland. Applicants may have a broad range of skills which may have been gained across a range of sectors. This may include experience in the community safety sector but we are also interested in applicants who have skills and experience in the following areas –
- Finance
- HR
- Employment law
- Charity operation and/or governance.
- Administration
- Events co-ordination
- Data collection and analysis
In addition, we are keen to attract applicants who reflect the diversity of the Scottish population.
Tasks may include:
- Creation and administration of database and spreadsheets
- Organising events, delegate lists,
- Emailing and communicating with members
- Supporting our communications officer using social media and newsletter development.
The details.
Time commitment is flexible but we would ask for a minim of 1 day per month – upwards to 2 days per week.
We work a 4 day week, so we don’t work on Fridays.
The SCSN works flexibly and remotely across Scotland. Volunteers would be expected to work from home with regular in person meetings with the larger team and supervisors. Venues are across the central belt. Volunteers will need access to a laptop or computer and internet broadband or Wi-Fi.
These roles are unpaid with full reimbursement of travel expenses.
